Honduras Mission
May 26th - June 2nd 2007
Our next Mission
Trip to Honduras is the week of May 26th - June 2nd 2007. We are
going to the Pech Indian village called Agua Amarilla.
Information about the Pech Indians is available at Northway's
Welcome
Center. There are some 90 people living in the village: 18
families in 12 houses. There is also a school in the village.
There is much work to be
done, so please consider prayerfully if you can be part of this
mission.
If you are interested in going or if you would like more
information, please attend one of our informational meetings on
either February 11 or February 25. Gather in Northway's
Fellowship Hall (F-101) at noon to travel together to a local
restaurant for a dutch-treat lunch. If you cannot attend either
meeting but would still like more information, please email Rev.
Jack Arrington at jack@northwaychristian.org.
June 3-10, 2006
On June 3rd
members of The Way and Northway Christian Church left for a
mission to the village of Concepcion de Maria, Honduras
in Central America. This continues The Way and Northway
Christian Church's commitment to aid and minister to the people
of Honduras. Northway Christian Church made seven trips to the
village of San Carlos, Honduras between 1998-2002. This is the
third trip to Concepcion de Maria and the second mission members
of The Way community have participated in.

Mission Trip Report
Our missionary teams to Honduras have learned
numerous things through the years. We have learned to be
flexible and ready for change. When our mission team arrived in
Honduras, we were greeted with the information that there were
only about 5 families who had moved back up the mountain into
the village of
Concepcion de Maria. Last November, the village received 11
straight days of rain and then Hurricane Gamma struck. Needless
to say, the people were very frightened and evacuated their
homes. Most of them are afraid to go back up the mountain and
rebuild in the same area. Due to the small number of children
living in the village, the state has closed the school. So
following the instructions from our Honduran leader, Lucas, we
were prepared to tell the people that we would not be coming
back to work in their village. Well, things do change. When we
arrived at the village, we found 6 new homes right beside the
road under various stages of construction. There are 6 other
families who have also expressed an interest in new homes.
The people of the village were not sure we were coming back due
to their living situation, and thus they greeted us very warmly
upon our return. there were between 35 and 40 children each day
in Vacation Bible School. We now realize that there is a
tremendous amount of work to do including digging trenches for
foundations, making and transporting cinder blocks for walls,
digging latrines, pouring concrete floors, and installing
chimneys. The work load can easily fill two mission trip each
year in 2007 and 2008. As always the people of Honduras inspire
us with their determination and their love for each other and
us.
During our closing fiesta, we told the people that we were part
of over 900 people in Northway Christian Church. We passed out
several pictorial directories and told them to look at your
pictures because you love them in the same way that we do.
We thank you
for your continuing support of our mission teams in Honduras.
Thanks for all the cookies, medical and dental supplies, as well
as the financial support that you provide to help our mission
teams minister to these wonderful people.
